On the Transfer of Mother Tongue in Second Language Learning and Teaching
Abstract
The transfer of mother tongue in second language learning has always been a focus of attention. Contrast analysis of behaviorism, creative construction theory of cognition and universal grammar theory of Chomsky have all ex-plained it from different points of view. While the agency of the cognitive mechanism and circumstances have been getting more and more attention in the theory of mother tongue transfer. It's necessary to appreciate the role of mother tongue in teaching second language, and to promote positive transfer as well as reduce negative transfer.
