IF

Impact Factor (IF), formally the Journal Impact Factor (JIF), is the average number of citations received in a given year by papers published in the journal during the two preceding years. It is calculated annually by Clarivate in the Journal Citation Reports. While widely used, IF has known limitations: it is not normalized across fields, can be skewed by a few highly-cited papers, and only considers a two-year citation window.
