Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate is the percentage of submitted manuscripts that a journal ultimately publishes. Highly selective journals like Nature and Cell have acceptance rates below 8%, while mega journals may accept 40-60% of submissions. Acceptance rate is a rough proxy for selectivity but does not directly measure quality — a specialized journal may have a high acceptance rate because it receives well-targeted submissions.
